ABOUT ME
I am a licensed Clinical Psychologist in private practice, working with individuals, couples and families, primarily by way of Telehealth since the start of the pandemic. I hope to go back to in-person work in the coming year.
My approach is…
integrative, partly relying on my training in insight-oriented therapy and partly on my interest in more alternative forms of healing.
I’ve been influenced by…
the works of Carl Rogers, Carl Jung, Abraham Maslow, Erik Erickson, Lawrence Kohlberg and Freud. I have also done extensive studies in Ayurveda, the Chakra System and more eastern ways of conceptualizing emotional health and well-being.
My goal as a therapist is…
to help people gain clarity about themselves and determine what is of real value to them so they can establish a life path that feels true to who they are. Along with finding their life path or sense of purpose, I also encourage the development of healthy and vibrant relationships and a sense of social connectedness.
My therapeutic style is…
somewhat interactive and I participate in the process of therapy with my clients, asking deepening questions and offering input. My goal is to get to the heart of the matter in order to facilitate healing.
My thoughts on medication
I see the use of psychiatric medication as useful in some cases of depression and severe anxiety, in order to achieve stabilization and offer support. However, I encourage my clients to resolve the underlying issues that contributed to the development of their symptoms so they can free themselves from long-term reliance on medication.
Emphasis on Self-Care
I encourage my clients to develop healthy avenues of self-care and self-expression, be it exercise, a creative pursuit, meditation, yoga, travel or any activity that helps them connect with themselves and reduce stress and tap into states of joy and fulfillment.
Collaboration with other Providers
I strongly believe in collaborating with other providers to enhance my clients’ progress, be they psychiatrists, PCP’s, alternative health caregivers, body workers, or anyone that they wish to include in their team of providers.
Spirituality
Though I am not a religious person, I believe spirituality and how we relate to others and the universe is an important matter to consider.
Therapist-client fit
I feel that therapist-client fit is important in the quality of the work that takes place. So I invite you to contact me for an evaluation and allow up to 3 sessions for us to mutually determine if we should proceed with the work ahead. We will then assess our progress every 3 to 6 months to make sure we are on the right track and our work together is feeling helpful to you and having a positive impact on your life. We can always readjust our goals and see if we can make changes to improve things. Otherwise, I would be happy to assist with transitioning your care to another provider.
I look forward to getting to know you and to offering you a safe space where we can examine your concerns and work together to create a life that feels meaningful and fulfilling to you!
